Supercrawl Productions, a not-for-profit corporation, is seeking engaged and committed individuals to join its Board of Directors. Supercrawl Productions looks to reflect its vibrant community and dynamic arts ecosystem, and welcomes applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds.

About Supercrawl

Supercrawl is a multidisciplinary arts festival fusing new and independent music with art installations, fashion, performance, literature, theatre, craft artisans, and food vendors, spanning a full weekend on a festival enclosure that animates 18 city blocks in the heart of Hamilton, Ontario. Supercrawl is committed to honouring, showcasing and celebrating all varieties of creative work, positioning local and emerging artists alongside significant provincial, national and international peers.

Over the past decade, Supercrawl has successfully evolved from a modest arts-based one-day event to a multi-day celebration with national/international profile and attendance of more than 250,000. The not-for-profit organization began as a small group of community leaders gathering to help catalyze positive change through culture and civic connection. Today, Supercrawl has a Board of Directors and a multi-tiered committee structure, with dozens of community members sharing input and guidance and hundreds of volunteers helping to make that vision a vivid reality.

In addition to its namesake free festival weekend, Supercrawl Productions also produces ticketed concerts and events throughout the year.

All candidates should demonstrate a passion for arts and culture. Practicing artists and those with diverse roles in the creative industries are encouraged to apply.  Previous board experience or experience with non-profit arts organizations will be considered an asset.  Nominees should bring knowledge and/or skills in one or more areas of governance and leadership; cultural planning, strategic planning, event management, collaborative partnerships, fundraising and development, fiscal oversight, community outreach and engagement, marketing and communications, advocacy, human resources, policy, and law.

Candidates must be community-minded and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively is essential. Nominees must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.

Directors are required to act in good faith and in the best interests of Supercrawl Productions, to formally declare any real or perceived conflicts of interest, and to abide by the not-for-profit by-laws, as well as its policies with regard to conflict of interest and confidentiality.

The term of Directors will be two (2) years, with an option to renew for an additional term.  Meetings will be held at Supercrawl Productions offices (97 James Street North, Hamilton) approximately six (6) times annually, for approximately three (3) hours per meeting, with members serving on the Board of Directors and overseeing the governance of the not-for-profit.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate adequate time available to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of a board position and prepared to fulfill their role in a volunteer capacity without compensation.  Candidates must be eighteen (18) or more years of age.
