Supercrawl Serves Up Food Options Galore

Supercrawl foodtrucks

As Hamilton’s annual celebration of music, art, fashion and culture, Supercrawl serves up an banquet of free cultural programming that always draws a crowd. The 2017 festival attracted record numbers to James Street North, where 220,000 people feasted on the best of what the city has to offer. The menu of options for Supercrawl 2018 should have them coming back for more.

Alongside a bill of musical headliners like Broken Social Scene, Lights, Wintersleep, Owen Pallett, Cadence Weapon, The Dirty Nil, and Elliott Brood, Supercrawl organizers will welcome another mouthwatering menu of food vendors to this year’s festival.

In addition to the hometown favourites and mainstays of Hamilton's food truck scene, Supercrawl hosts a number of prominent out-of-towners serving up a mouthwatering variety of foods. Festival-goers can choose from more than 30 food vendors and enjoy four city blocks of culinary choices as part of a vibrant urban arts festival that stretches for over a kilometre along James Street North. One of the largest annual gatherings of food trucks in the province, it's a festival within a festival!

Featured vendors at Supercrawl 2018 include Beavertails Pastry, Buster’s Bloomin’ Onion Co., Buster’s Sea Cove, Eva’s Original Chimneys, feasTO Dumplings, Festival Fun Food, 50 Pesos, The Flyin G’nosh, Fry HardGorilla Cheese, Jamaican Patty Shack, Jerk Brothers, Johnny Rocco’s Italian Street Food, Johnny Rocco’s Pizza Wagon, Jonny Blonde, Kool Jim’s Ice Cream, La Novela, Los Fénix, MeatVentures, The Poutine Supreme, Prince Edward’s Fries, Relay Coffee, A Salt ‘n’ Battered Fish 'n' Chips, Charles Smith Wines, Summer Time Lemonade, TCS Poutinerie, Texas Tornado, Tiny Tom Donuts, True North BBQ, The Ultimate Food Truck, Willy Dog’s GTO, and Wine Country Ontario

While all of these vendors will be open for business from Friday September 14 through Sunday September 16, a number will also be on hand for Supercrawl's opening night expansion, complementing a music lineup that features headliners Broken Social Scene performing on the TD Stage at James North & King. On Thursday September 13, food truck vendors including The Dirty SouthGorilla Cheese, Jamaican Patty Shack, Jonny Blonde, Kool Jim’s Ice Cream, MeatVenturesRelay Coffee, and Willy Dog’s GTO will be active curbside from 6pm to 12am, as Supercrawl activates a two-block stretch of the festival a day early in celebration of its tenth anniversary.

Adding a little sizzle to your Supercrawl weekend, NOSH will be staging one of its signature culinary contests in an on-street tent near the intersection of King William and Hughson on Saturday, September 15 starting at 7pm. The King William Cook-Off will be an intense thirty-minute competition featuring two teams of marquee talents: Chef Harrison Hennick (Nique) and Chef Michael Vogt (Frat's Cucina) versus Chef Michael Cipollo (HAMBRGR King William, FSH & CHP) and Chef Patrick Wiese (Twisted Kitchen).

On top of this, the festival will once again feature two spacious Collective Arts Beer Gardens — one at the south end of the festival and another at the north — where legal-age festival-goers can quench their thirst.

You’ll need a weekend — a long and very full weekend —  to take it all in!

Supercrawl 2018 runs Thu Sept 13 (6pm-12am), Fri Sept 14 (6pm-1am), Sat Sept 15 (12pm-1am) and Sun Sept 16 (12pm-7pm) along James Street North in downtown Hamilton, Ontario.
